Our Water Quality Program has a part-time field technician position available in our Lake Charles office. This is a great long-term opportunity for science majors looking to gain on-the-job/hands-on experience. Work tasks include: performing environmental field work such as collecting water quality samples and field measurements, assisting in preparing water permit applications and other compliance documents, performing data analysis, maintaining and developing spreadsheets, and basic report preparation. Weekly work schedule flexible to school commitments.
Qualifications and Skill Sets:
- College coursework in one or more of the related fields: Environmental Science, Engineering, Chemistry, Life Sciences, Biology, Agriculture, or Fisheries;
- Must successfully complete required safety and on-the-job training;
- Must be able to satisfy all Drug & Alcohol, Health & Safety, and Security requirements including obtaining a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card;
- This position requires frequent use of a company vehicle. Candidate must be at least 21 years of age with a clean driving record, and able to safely operate a full-size pickup truck;
- Must be available to work outside of normal business hours and within the Lake Charles area on a daily basis;
- Working knowledge of MS Office programs, especially Excel spreadsheets;
- Experience with collecting water samples is preferred, but not required;
- Well-organized to prioritize tasks, and schedules, and manage changing deadlines;
- Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and maintain successful client relationships;
- Ability to communicate with clients and co-workers in a professional and courteous manner; and
- Eager to excel as an individual and in a team environment.
